Top 7 Ways To Save On Produce – #3

I sure hope I’m not the only one that has this self-dialogue in my head.  Hmmm, I guess i forgot the red peppers was in the refrigerator & it looks funky now – to the garbage it goes”.   After doing this a number of times I learned a trick that saves my family countless dollars.

Here is an example of what waste can cost you.

Buy 2 Red peppers on sale for $.99 each, a decent price for Las Vegas.

Using only 1 1/2 and throwing away the last 1/2 would now change your cost to $1.32 each an increase of 33% and no longer a good price.

Ways to Save On ProduceTip #3

My super simple tip to help you save on produce is to make a list.  Are you a natural list maker (or not)? – this is super easy to see and maintain.

  • Write down every fruit or vegetable in your refrigerator and leave it in plain site stuck on the front of the refrigerator.
  • After using up the produce, scratch it off the list.  I find myself planning a meal to use up the items much quicker and rarely have waste.

Give this tip on how to save on produce a try and see if it works for you.
