Buying Coupons Is NOT Necessary!   Did you hear about the coupon clipping service arrests in Arizona?  3 Arizona women were arrested in a widespread counterfeiting and forgery operation.  There are 2 links to the articles about the Counterfeit Coupon Arrests in Arizona.

This is posted only to pass along some pretty important information (not judgement) regarding coupon clipping services or buying coupons on ebay.    Having been a couponer for over 20 years, I can assure you – it is NOT necessary to buy coupons from these types of services!

Coupons from newspaper inserts:

WOW! I’m glad they’re cracking down on this. People who do this make it harder for everyone else.

Hi Jen, it’s me Kat…I was reading this article you put out on the AZ arrest and while I would NEVER give in to fraud of any kind, I do pose a question for you….I am still new to the coupon world and one day I needed some coupons that were not available in this area. I went on an auction site and got them but also came across a free product coupon; I have never seen those before. It was for a Bird’s Eye product that I love and the auction was 2 free coupons that were had values of up the $10+ . I know that in the stores, they run (family size) around $7-8 if not more. I won the coupons for only $3.50 for both. They came in the mail and I used them on the family sized meals but it was like only paying $1.75 for each when it was all said and done. I would never want to step on anyone’s toes, but to me, it was a great deal….how do you feel about these types of coupons and is it looked highly in a good way or bad to buy these? I feel like I hit the jackpot by buying these because I really saved a lot of money; if it is wrong, please tell me otherwise. Thanks Jen for your time and sharing all of your knowledge, blessings to you and your family, Kat

Hi Kat — buying free items coupons is probably not a good idea. There are so many that are just not legitimate and are copies. It is very risky. The only free item coupons I would redeem are the ones you get from the manufacturers yourself. There was a college student arrested last year because he was teaching people how to create free item coupons and there are many, many people who just create them. Especially on an auction website, if they are selling many free item coupons and many of the same ones, chances are they are not legit.

Sorry, one last question….I don’t subscribe to multiple newspapers because I live in a condo unit community and with more than over 300 families here, I just pick up the left overs when they place them in our recycle bin…I can get anywhere from 100+ redplums, smart sourse, P & G and sometimes different regions (not sure why, but I can get them, not often though)…this was suppose to be apart of the last question I sent you…Is there a format of “what” to write to the manufacturer’s when you let us know via your website, because I have been writing them like you suggest and I have only received a “thank you” via e-mail. What and how should we write to them so we too can receive FREE product coupon??? I am just trying to get things right so I can coupon the best way possible for my family. Blessings, Kat

Hi Kat — I have a bit of information or some basics to cover when you write. See the info here! This can give you some ideas of what to write about to hopefully get some correspondence from the manufacturers. Jen
