Seasonal Fruits and Vegetables Month by Month

The number one way to save on produce is with simple strategy! Let me explain further because it is just a tiny bit of planning to make your produce savings happen.

First, would you agree the very best and most flavorful produce is when the fresh vegetable or fruit is in season? I sure hope you do! It only stands to reason if the produce is in season it’s at peak flavor and its bounty will keep the cost lower. It’s supply and demand!

Now, the strategy for saving on fruits and vegetables is to know what produce is in season and shop those items first. I would not plan a watermelon salad at Christmas time, it is way too costly! Instead I would stick to watermelon in the summer!

Since we are having most of our produce come from outside the US produce month by month is a bit trickier because of the different and longer growing seasons elsewhere.  Some of the items I list you certainly will still find during different times at decent prices.  Just be sure to jot down your “Buy” price point to know what is a great deal for you, no matter the time of year!

Buy Produce With Strategy – Purchase What’s in Season!

Check out my list of seasonal produce month by month, season by season. When looking at the sales ads you will see the produce sales and most likely, the sale will coincide with the seasonal best deals. Plan your menu around those fruits and vegetables FIRST, then add a bit extra for variety.

TIP: Consider freezing or canning the seasonal produce to have for future use.
