September Seasonal Sales Cycle

What’s best to buy in September?

Have you ever wondered what are the best months to buy certain items or what’s on clearance by month?  Here’s a list of “when is it best to buy”.   This list is compiled from years of making the most of my money by purchasing strategically.

One of my big strategies is ~ buy when the best price presents itself.  My What’s Best To Buy This Month series will give you the guideline.

During the year, when I make note of things we need to consider replacing in the house I will wait for the seasonal sale.  While I am waiting, it gives me an opportunity to stash a little money away to plan for that purchase.

  • Think about buying items that are non-perishable for next years use.
  • Buy vegetables & fruit in season for optimal pricing and flavor.
  • Stock-pile items seasonally on sale to get you through the next go around of sales.

Watch for coupons to match to clearance items:  Pool Chemicals, condiments, paper products and sunscreen especially.  Clip or print the coupons and keep them with you so you are prepared when you see clearance.  Search the Free Coupon Database by category, product or brand!

This is also the time when warm-weather clothes start to go on-sale.

Graduation season is coming up as well, so keep your sights set on sales of laptops, digital cameras, cookware sets and dorm room kitchen essentials.

April is also the time for great deals on vacuum cleaners as inventory clearances make way for brand new models coming out in June.

Clearance: after Easter sales are the time to stock up on decorating, baskets, etc for the next year. Also food coloring & sprinkles. Easter candy can be bought also to use for baking (Hershey’s kisses, etc). Final clearance on winter clothing and shoes — get the 90% off sales!

What Not to Buy on Black Friday

Is every deal great on Black Friday?  Is there anything to avoid buying on Black Friday?  Sales have already begun but Black Friday hasn’t officially begun quite yet.   Don’t be caught up in the frenzy and find yourself buying things that are NOT good deals.  Just because it’s advertised does not mean it’s a hot deal.

Items commonly on sale during Black Friday but are rarely a great deal!!

1) Toys –YES, really!!  If at all possible, purchase toys in November (before Black Friday) or in July when the retailers clean the shelves getting ready for new inventory.  Retailers practically give away toys in early November.  But I know you will be buying some in December anyway, so check for Toy Coupons to save some money!

2) Home Improvement items – Buy in the Spring when prices are the best or hold out until Father’s Day deals come knocking.

3) Gas Grills – need I say more than ~summertime? Or better yet ~July=sales?

4) Fitness Equipment – wait until January and there will be the dieters after the Holiday deals.

5) Small Tools – Hold off until Father’s Day. It will brings it rock bottom prices annually.

6) Automotive Supplies – like the small tools, Father’s Day is the best time to find these deals.

7) Christmas Decorations – buy after Christmas at 75-90% off sales for next year. The 3rd week of January is the secret week of the year for the 90% off sales.

8) Winter Coats – Wait until January, unless you have a retail coupon getting you 50% off or more.

As hard as it can be hold off when you see a “sale” sign in the store, armed with this list if you can wait and buy when the items are really at a great price you will win at saving.  Check out the monthly Seasonal Sales — What’s Best To Buy When  series.  It will give you a look into each month’s best pricing of the year.

What’s best to buy in November?

Have you ever wondered what are the best months to buy certain items? Wonder whats on clearance by month? I have compiled a list of “when is it best to buy” certain items. This list is compiled from years of making the most of my money by purchasing strategically. And one of my big strategies is buy when the best price presents itself. My What’s Best To Buy This Month series will give you the guideline.

During the year, when I make note of things we need to consider replacing in the house I will wait for the seasonal sale. While I am waiting, it gives me an opportunity to stash a little money away to plan for that purchase.

What’s Best To Buy In November:

Watch toy sales, most best deals can be closer to Christmas but with the lackluster sales through 2012 many retailers may be ready to offer great deals earlier this year than last years.

November Clearance Sales: After Halloween Sales are the time to stock up for next year. Buy the Halloween candy-alternatives (Halloween crayons, erasers, watches, spinning tops, etc ~Mix this in with next year’s candy bowl).

Veteran’s Day is November 11:  Many restaurants and stores have free meals and discounts for Veterans. Check your favorite restaurants websites and stores for discounts.  Home Depot and Lowe’s have discounts.

Look for sales to get an early start on holiday shopping this month.

Thanksgiving Day is coming!  Only a little over 20 days to get great stock-up deals on broth, pumpkin, evaporated milk, cream soups & more.  See all the things below to stock-up on.

Baking Sales in full swing, look for: nuts, chocolate chips, evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, coconut, cake mixes, Canned foods (soup, broth, condensed milk, vegetables, fruits, spaghetti sauce, etc.), turkey, canned pumpkin, stove top stuffing, Betty Crocker boxed potatoes, gravy mixes, Rhodes rolls, frozen pies, cranberry sauce, Jello, and marshmallows.

Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving.  But many deals are starting as early as Thanksgiving Day now!  Look for early holiday bargains on: electronics (big screen TVs, laptops, stereos, gaming consoles, etc.), jewelry, clothing, toys, etc. Consider more than holiday gifts! Most people think of holiday gifts this time of year but this is also a great time to buy an item you’ve been wanting.

Wedding dresses tend to go on sale in November.

Also, Cyber Monday is the Monday after Thanksgiving weekend. Look for loads of deals online PLUS free shipping at many online stores. (Amazon.com always has GREAT deals!)

November Seasonal Produce: Anjou pears, beets, broccoli, brussel sprouts, red cabbage, carrots, celery, Comice pears, cranberries, kiwi, lemons, oranges, potatoes, squash, and yams.
