Find a Bargain in July

Would you like to save as much as 75 to 90 percent on items during July? Between Christmas in July and Back-to-School sales, it can be a great month to save on shopping.

The Christmas in July theme began in the 1940s, marking the time of year to send Christmas cards and packages to servicemen and women overseas to give ample time for them to arrive by Christmas. Nowadays, though, it represents the time of year for major sales as retailers, including online and mail-order, reduce current inventory and clear the shelves to make room for new incoming merchandise and the latest models that will be arriving soon.

Keeping with tradition, July can be a great time to do your Christmas shopping. Buy now and stash the gifts. What can you find on sale? Look for deals on toys, household items, movies, camping gear, summer items, and items for men or women. Also, mail order retailers begin selling new Christmas items at reduced prices during July.

Hot Back-to-School deals start now, too. Look for kid’s clothing and school supplies, including pencils, rulers, glue sticks, erasers, folders, paper, markers and more for pennies on the dollar. And don’t just buy for now; purchase extra for restocking through the school year or for your home office.

Remember to use your coupons and savings apps with these purchases to get even greater savings.

What’s Best To Buy In January?

Have you ever wondered what are the best months to buy certain items or what’s on clearance by month?   I have compiled a list of  “when is it best to buy” and when items.

This list from years of making the most of my money and purchasing strategically.  One of my big strategies is to buy when the best price presents itselfBut when is that you ask?  My What’s Best To Buy series will give you the answers.

Every month has seasonal hot items: End of season clearance, prime purchase timing and peak season produce/groceries at the best pricing. When you learn what items are at optimal pricing each month, you will begin to save your hard earned money by planning purchases around seasonal deals.

During the year, when I make note of things we need to consider replacing in the house I will wait for the seasonal sale. While I am waiting, it gives me an opportunity to stash a little money away to plan for that purchase.

So, What is Best to Buy in January?

National Oatmeal Month: Quaker product sales.  Stack with coupons for additional discounts.  See the coupon links at the bottom of the page.

Diet Food sales including: Healthy Choice, South Beach, Lean Cuisine, Special K, Kashi, Smart Start, 100 Calorie Packs, etc.

Diet Food Books & Magazine deals & Discounts:  Including Free Ebooks & Recipes, Magazine deals for $5 Here – Rachael Ray, Eating Well, Better Homes and Garden, etc. — Plus more deals Here and Here.

Super Bowl Sunday coming Feb 5th: sales on Pepsi, Coke, chips, dips, cheese, sandwich items, crackers, snacks, wings, etc.

Vitamins & Health items are on sale (and not again until June), including cold medicines.

Look for annual January white sales for: bargains on sheets, bed covers, pillows and pillow cases.

The arrivals of new model TVs, fitness gear, digital cameras and furniture also means you can take advantage of department stores’ unloading their old inventory at bargain prices (perfectly usable prior-year models for which you would have paid full price).

Winter weddings are most popular in February (especially around Valentine’s Day): find great bargains at wedding gown shops and wedding halls which are all primed and ready to cut you a special deal during one of the slowest wedding months of the year.

Also look for great savings on carpet this month, a traditionally slow time (due to sloppy winter weather) for purchases on any type of new floor covering.

Whats On Clearance In January?

Clearance: Christmas decorations, ornaments, toys, wrapping paper, greeting cards (buy stocking stuffers for next year) and Seasonal Candy. I buy sprinkles & cookie/cake decorating items. Hershey’s kisses and chocolates have holiday wrapping, but when using them in cooking, the wrapper’s not important. Or use Red for Valentine’s Day!

~The 3rd week of January Christmas and Seasonal will be 90% off!

Winter clothing, boots, hats, outdoor equipment sales.

Seasonal Produce: oranges, pears, grapefruit, tangerines, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, celery, chard, collards, kale, kiwi, avocado, cabbage, & spinach.
