Overview: Target stores are not consistent when it comes to handling their corporate coupon policy. The corporate office leaves up to the discretion of the manager on duty how they want to handle coupons. The only way you will know how friendly your Target store is about coupons~ trying it out. I have 2 target stores within 2 miles of my home. One store lets me use as many coupons as I would like (including Target store coupons) I have used as many as 80 in one transaction; the other store, one coupon per day (including manufacturer coupons). So, I bet you can guess which store I shop!
.

~Target Temporary Price Reductions are often regional and found only on shelf tags.  I you do not see a shelf tag on a product you believe to be on TPR, take it to the red scanner and double check.
.

~Target will honor one Target store coupon and one manufacturer coupons for each item (unless coupon specifically prohibits it)
.

~Give all manufacturer coupons first–before Target store coupons. This technique will minimize coupon beeps.

~Coupon value may be reduced if it exceeds the value of the item purchased.  -(at my Target, the overage goes toward other items in my order!)
.

~Watch for red clearance stickers, peelie and tearpad coupons, price cuts, and other discounts! By combining these sales with coupons, you will get deeper discounts.
.

~Watch the end caps of each section of the store. They have clearance shelves and you can find GREAT deals.
.

~Watch for Target Gift Card deals! These gift card promotions may last for a week, month, or even longer. They may be posted inside the store but not in the circular – so be on the lookout! To access a Target Gift Card, you usually have to buy certain participating products – and by doing so, you receive the card at check out. The cashier will be prompted by the register to give you a gift card. You won’t be able to use the gift card on that purchase, but you can use the gift card on future purchases.
.

~Target has a price matching policy they refer to as a Low Price Promise. Here are a few highlights from the policy.
.

– Target will honor any local retailer’s price published in a printed ad- the following exclusions apply:
-Any Online prices, Web-Advertised Prices or Mobile Prices (must be a printed ad)
-Early bird, door busters or other special limited time, limited quantity sales
-Membership club or loyalty programs (no BJs, Costco etc that require a club or loyalty card)
-Coupon-required advertised offers (i.e.- items advertised with a price AFTER an in-store coupon)
-Prices advertised as a percent off or $ off or BOGO sales
.

Applying Coupons to Price Matching:
~Target coupons will be applied BEFORE the price match is made. Once the Target Coupon is applied if the price is still lower then the price match will be made.
~Manufacturer coupons will be applied AFTER the price match is made.
.

Tips on Price Matching
1. Bring the complete ad with you & make sure the ad shows the sale dates.
.

2. Check out at customer service- you will more than likely end up there anyway- so why not start there. (They should not refuse to check you out at CS either. You can explain to them why you are there- because you don’t want to wait in 2 lines!)
.

3. You are entitled to a gift card regardless of a Price Match.  To date there is no rule stating otherwise in their policy. The only time I think this could be argued is if the ad specified you spend a certain dollar amount to get the gift card. So, for example, if it was Get a $5 GC wyb $10 worth of Oreo Cookies- and Oreo Cookies were $2.00 each at Target, but $1 each at Wags… if you wanted to price match- you would now have to buy 10 packages of Oreos instead of 5 in order to get the gift card.
,

4. If you are told you are not entitled to a gift card- ask to speak to the manager.  Many problems are solved by requesting a member of management. Not all, of course, but if you are still given a problem about getting your gift card- ask why and could they please show you where it says that you are not entitled to it if you price match.

Hello. you are my hero !!!!

I am trying to download printer activator and it downloads, however, when I go through the process and prompts me to close so coupons can be printed, they don’t print.

Can you help me with this?

I will start to use coupons tomorrow. I am in awe with you. I have 4 children from ages 8-17 and am going through a very ugly separation from my spouse, I work 40/week as a medical practice manager and quite honestly I don’t purchase many things because I just can’t afford to anymore. I don’t have cable but I have a computer and I saw you last night. I will use you as my mentor.

Thank you for sharing.

Hi Jennifer.

I love your site, it has been extremely helpful getting me starting on my couponing efforts.

I have a question regarding store coupons. I have printed out store coupons from sites like CVS, RiteAid, and Target and find that some print with the header labeled Manufacturer’s coupon and some with the store name such as “Target Web Coupon”. In this specific scenerio, a coupon printed from Target is a Manufacturer’s coupon, but the fine print reads only redeemable at Target. So, is this considered a store coupon or a manufacturer’s coupon? I have a manufacturer’s coupon from Sunday’s inserts for the same item that if combined with this printed coupon could net me a $10 dollar saving since they are worth $5 each.

Any help you can offer is appreciated!

~ Jennifer
